The BTX “Think Big” Scholarship

As recent Engineering graduates, The BTX Foundation understands the difficulty in trying to balance engineering studies coupled with job(s), extracurricular activities and personal responsibilities.  With the distribution of this scholarship, The BTX Foundation aims to provide financial assistance to ensure future engineers are capable of achieving their academic goals.

The BTX “Think Big” Scholarship of $4,000 will be awarded to one (1) scholarship recipient.

Who is eligible to apply for The BTX “Think Big” Award?

  • Applicants must be:

    • A student enrolled in the University of Maryland, College Park (UMDCP) AND enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program within the A. James Clark School of Engineering leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Biocomputational Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Materials Science Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

    • Have a minimum of 12 credits left within their undergraduate program.

    • Maintain a 2.5 minimum GPA at the time of application.

What can the scholarship award be used for?

  • All awards may be used for tuition, textbooks, fees, supplies and any additional expenses directly related to the students academic and/or career development.

What will I need to submit in addition to the online application?

  • Resume

  • Unofficial transcript

  • 30 minute interview with the members of The BTX Foundation

Is there a cost to apply for the scholarship?

  • No, there is no cost to apply for The BTX Legacy Award .

Is it required that I am nominated in order to apply?

  • No, a UMD administration or peer nomination is not required, however it is recommended.

Will The BTX Foundation release any of the personal information or files that are submitted?

  • All information submitted by the applicant is confidential and will only be reviewed by the appropriate scholarship selection committee within The BTX Foundation. Please review the scholarship’s privacy policy and terms and conditions for additional information.
