Racheal Ssentongo

Racheal Ssentongo is a sophomore aerospace engineering student at the University Maryland, graduating in Spring 2023. On campus she is an undergraduate researcher for the Flying Carpet Project, a Guinness World Record drone. As a member of the applications team Racheal is responsible for testing, modifying, and exploring functions for the drone. Racheal is also a member of Theta Tau, a co-ed professional engineering fraternity, where she will be serving as the Professional Development Chair in spring 2021. She is also a member of the Black Engineers Society, Society of Women Engineers, and QUEST honors program. In her free time Racheal enjoys long distance running and spending time with her friends.

In the past Rachel has been a mechanical engineering intern at Spear Motors. In the future she hopes to work with commercial aircrafts, autonomous vehicles, or sustainable energy. This summer Racheal will be an engineering intern at GE Aviation.
